Pineapple upside down cake

It is said that pineapple upside down cake is best cooked in cast iron.

I've not yet graduated to baking cakes from scratch, but this recipe is a combination of cake mix and other ingredients:

Mix 1 box of Duncan Hines pineapple cake mix, 3 eggs, 1/3 cup olive oil, and 1 1/3 cups water in a bowl. Whisk until blended.

Melt 1 stick butter in a cast iron skillet. Sprinkle in 1 cup brown sugar. Arrange sliced pineapples (fresh or canned) and pitted cherries (fresh or jar).

Pour in the cake batter. Into the oven at 350.
